Pickard China offers four Charlotte Moss patterns:

Charlotte Moss has designed four patterns to date for American china manufacturer Pickard China, and is always dreaming up something new. Each has a distinct decorative motif for the hostess who needs options.

South Hampton is a fresh floral pattern in blue and white, a color scheme everybody loves. Elsie was inspired by interior decorator Elsie de Wolfe's home in Versailles, translating de Wolfe's passion for treillage into elegance on the table. Nancy incorporates a graceful motif of basket weave that would have felt at home in the English countryside, where Nancy Lancaster lived most of her life.

Espalier comes from the potagers and parterres of Europe, where trees and vines are trained to grow on flat planes to conserve space and maximize new growth.

Elsie de Wolfe (1865-1950) lived in France a great deal of her life. Her early style was epitomized by the charming French scenes of gardens and architecture that she hung throughout houses she decorated. The Elsie china collection references these motifs, especially her love of trellis.

We're thrilled to announce Charlotte's latest design for Pickard China - Espalier. A perfectly balanced mixed of natural and architectural design, Espalier complements every table and occasion.

"The garden has always been a source of inspiration in my work as an interior designer. From the cultivated parterres of the important gardens in Europe, the simple yet abundant kitchen gardens of Provence, gardens of all descriptions all across America, to my own backyard, inspiration manifests in all shapes and forms. Each year, I anxiously await the first flowers of spring. Wintertime is spent researching and preparing for next spring by sitting at a desk by the fire with snow covering the lawn dreaming of possibilities. The opportunity to create another pattern for Pickard is always an opportunity to reflect on those sources of inspiration and create something new. Espalier was born from that dreaming." - Charlotte Moss

Nancy Lancaster (1897-1994) never considered herself a decorator but as the owner of the London decorating firm Colefax and Fowler, she had a unique influence on the world of houses. Her partner, John Fowler was known as "the prince of English decorators" in the Duchess of Devonshire's words, but he was originally a painter and we think he would have liked the trompe l'oeil effect of the Nancy bamboo motif.
